Sample Kit and Usage Guidlines
We have created a few sample situations to help provide ordering guidelines for the anticipated number of accessories that you would need for a traditional detail. We always recommend that you start with the least aggressive pad and chemicals and always test a small, inconspicuous area first. Always thoroughly prepare the vehicle prior to detailing. During the detail process we recommend that you have several of each pad type/color on-hand. Pads will become filled
with product and debris so you will want to rotate in a new pad for each step in the detailing process (e.g. when you change chemicals) and for each area of the project (e.g. hood versus fenders and doors). Once a pad has been used simply wash out with a light detergent and let air dry. When using the DoublePrecision system simply flip each pad over until both sides have been used or when changing chemicals or areas of detail.
To help you correctly order the amount of pads and covers you will need for your project we have developed a few sample usage charts below. Each chart will provide guidelines for typical pad usage requirements on a given project. For example, a sedan may need only one set of green pads to polish the entire hood where an SUV may require two or three sets of pads for each stage (compound, polish, wax or seal) simply based on the additional area
or amount
of loose debris.
EXAMPLE 1 – Detailing a 10 Year Old SUV or Truck (listed in sets of pads)
The following is a list of expected accessory usage for a typical detailing of an aged paint job that has moderate scratches all over the vehicle and some severe scratching that will not be corrected in a traditional detail. This guide is not to replace good judgment when addressing each project.

EXAMPLE 2 – Detailing a 3 Year Old SUV or Truck (listed in sets of pads)
The following is a list of expected accessories required for a typical detailing including removal of very light scratches from washing and nominal wear. Because of the anticipated condition of the paint we are not expecting to have to spend much time during the compounding stage. In fact, you may forgo compounding all together and focus on polishing and wax/seal for a complete detail. Please note that this guide is not to replace good judgment when addressing
each project.

EXAMPLE 5 – Polishing Heavily Worn/Used Diesel Fuel Tanks
The following is a list of expected accessories and sample products required for detailing diesel gas tanks including removal of oxidation and corrosion. Because of the anticipated condition of the metal we are expecting we will have to have to spend additional time during the removal of rust and corrosion.
Please note that this guide is not to replace good judgment when addressing each project. Plated parts Note: All compounds can cut through plating. You can do more damage than good polishing a thinly plated part. The first step in polishing is to determine what type of metal you are working with, such as cast aluminum, billit aluminum, or stainless steel.
Pads Used: Compounding -455 Series Original Cyclo Cutting Wool, 145 Series Orange Compounding & Polishing, 135 Series Yellow Cutting Foam, 435 Series Yellow Medium Cutting Wool; Polishing – 120 Series Green Polishing Foam, 115 Series Blue Polishing Foam, 415 Series Blue Polishing Wool; Wax or Seal – 115 Series Blue Polishing Foam, 110 Series White Finishing Foam
